MANCHESTER: Tandukan Park Ji-sung memastikan Manchester United kembali merampas persada Liga Perdana Inggeris selepas mengalahkan Liverpool 2-1 di Old Trafford, semalam, manakala Chelsea sekadar seri 1-1 bertemu Blackburn.

Gol minit ke-60 oleh Ji-sung, membolehkan United mengumpul 69 mata, lebih dua mata ke atas Arsenal, dan empat mata melebihi Chelsea yang bermain kurang satu perlawanan. Fernando Torres terlebih dulu membuka jaringan untuk Liverpool dengan menanduk masuk bola melepasi jangkauan Edwin van der Sar, lima minit selepas permainan bermula.

United bagaimanapun pantas menyamakan kedudukan menerusi sepakan penalti yang diambil Wayne Rooney pada minit ke-12, selepas pengadil, Howard Webb menyalahkan Javier Mascherano kerana menjatuhkan Antonio Valencia, dalam kotak penalti. Sepakan awal Rooney berjaya ditampan Pepe Reina tetapi penyerang utama England itu sempat menampan semula bola yang melantun ke arahnya, ke gawang yang kosong.

Introduction
Patrice Evra is a truly dynamic Left Back who's equally adept at defending as well as bombing forward and supporting the attack. He's extremely athletic and his pace and acceleration are exceptional. In fact I would go as far as saying that Patrice Evra is the complete full-back and what he lacks in stature he makes up with great courage and a superb spring.

Early Career
The young Patrice Evra embarked on the footballing road to stardom by turning out for Paris St-Germain's youth team as a striker. He never received an official players contract at the Parc des Princes and was eventually signed by Scicilian side Marsala, Where he continued playing as a striker scoring just six goals in his one and only season at the club.

The following season the "Black Gazelle" as the Marsala fans nicknamed him, moved to Serie B side Monza, making a paltry 3 league appearances and needless to say failing to get on the scoresheet.

The limited opportunities he was afforded at Monza led Patrice Evra into returning back to France after just two years in Italy, signing for Ligue 2 outfit, Nice. In his early at the club he was forced to play at Left Back due to the mounting injuries at the Stade Municipal du Ray. Needless to say, Evra took to his new position like the proverbial 'Duck to Water' and was named Ligue 2's best left back in the French end of season awards.

AS Monaco
Patrice Evra's performances caught the eye of Monaco boss Didier Deschamps, who moved swiftly to sign the Senegal born player for an undisclosed fee.

Now at his fourth club in just 3 years Patrice Evra quickly claimed the left back slot as his own and in his first season at Monaco he reached the 2004 European Champions League final, losing 3-0 to Jose Mourinho's FC Porto.

After his high ocatane displays in the Champions League; at the age of 23 the player was called up to the French national side by coach Jaques Santini. Although only winning 11 caps in four years, Evra started 2 of France's group games during their ill fated Euro 2008 campaign, replacing Bracelona's Eric Abidal after his poor showing against Romania.

During the early part of the 2005-06 season it waas clear that Patrice Evra had completed his transformation from far from prolific striker, to dominant defender when Deschamps named him captian on numerous occasions.

During the 2006 January English transfer window Alex Ferguson splashed out £5.5m to bring the defender to Old Trafford on a 3 1/2 year contract, just five days after the club had signed combative centre back, Nemanja Vidic.

Sir Alex Ferguson saw the new Manchester United recruit as the ideal cover for the side-lined Gabriel Heinze, giving Patrice his debut four days later in the 3-1 defeat to inter-city rivals Manchester City. However, the player struggled to adapt to the ferocity of the encounter and was replaced at half-time by Irishmann John O'Shea.

After the defender's poor showing in the Derby a few pundits and fans alike began to question Fergie's judgement in signing such a "light-weight" player in a rough and tumble league such as the English topflight. But as many times beforehand, Sir Alex proved his doubters wrong as Patrice Evra got better and better with each game, eventually ousting Gabriel Heinze as Manchester United's first choice left-back.

On 29 November 2006 in the home Premier League match against North West rivals Everton, Evra scored his first goal for the club, which helped his team-mates to a vital 3-0 victory.

In the 2007-08 season Evra was a vital part of the Premier League and European Champions League double winning side, forming a tremendous defensive quintet with Edwin Van Der Sar, Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand who helped themselves to amazing 31 clean-sheets during the campaign.

Johnny Evans is one of the latest youngsters to have come through the youth team ranks and establish themselves as a first team squad regular. The Northern Irerland international caught the eye of Manchester United scouts whilst playing for Belfast youth side Greenisland F.C.

Evans joined The Reds in 2004 and got his first taste of things to come when he played three games during the club's 2006 tour of South Africa , making his debut on 15 July in the 4-0 win over Orlando Pirates.

Although the player was given a tatser of first team action during the 2006 pre-season, he spent the first few months of that season on loan in Belgium at Manchester United's feeder club Royal Antwerp. And it was during that spell Evans made his competitive debut. He went on to make 14 appearances for the club, scoring twice.

On 6 September 2006 Jonny Evans made his international debut for Northern Ireland, which proved to be a pretty memorable night, not only for the player, but for the people Northern Ireland as against all odds as the team ran out 3-2 winners. What was even more remarkable about the situation is that the player hadn't even made his competitive Manchester United debut.

During the 2007 January transfer window, United legend Roy Keane took the player on loan at Sunderland, until the end of the 2006-2007 season, where the player enjoyed immediate success,as he was voted Sunderland's young player of the year, as well as helping them clinch the Championship title.

While at Sunderland Evans made his competitive debut in England on 6 January 2007 in a 1-0 defeat by Preston North End in the F.A. Cup. After the game Roy Keane declared "He was very composed and looks a fantastic prospect" That season he went on to make a further 18 appearances for club, scoring once.

On 26 September 2007 Jonny Evans made his senior Manchester United debut in a 2-0 League Cup defeat at the hands of Coventry City at Old Trafford. After a disappointing performance the young Evans was given another chance when he replaced fellow youngster Gerard Pique in the UEFA Champions League, with Manchester United running out 4-0 winners. The result meant The Reds had qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament.

On 12 December 2007 Jonny Evans started his first match for Manchester United against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. The young defender impressed as The Reds secured a more than satisfactory 1-1 draw.

Although the player was starting to break into the first team squad Sir Alex Ferguson felt that the player needed to get more experience, so allowed former captain Roy Keane to take the player to Sunderland for a second loan spell, where he played 16 times.

Although Roy Keane wanted to buy Jonny Evans for a "considerable amount of money" the Manchester United manager refused, stating he saw a "bright future" for the player at Old Trafford.

In Dcemeber 2008 Evans lifted his first piece of silverware when he helped Manchester United win the FIFA Club World Cup, after victories over Gamba Osaka and LDU Quito. When he returned from the tournament, which was held in Japan, he broke into Manchester United's first team, when the club were missing the experienced pair of Wes Brown and Rio Ferdinand through injury.

Rafael Da Silva and his brother Fabio were both spotted by Manchester United scouts while playing for Fluminense in a Hong Kong youth tornament in July 2005 and in February 2007 Sir Alex Ferguson struck up a deal to sign the pair - who would join their new club in January 2008.

Although Rafael was now in Manchester he was unable to play for the club until he was 18 due to a Brazilian league ruling forbidding players under the age of18 being allowed to move to a non Brazilian club.

The first glimpse the Manchester United fans got of this exciting young prospect was during the 2008-09 pre-season, when he made his debut in the 2-0 friendly victory over Peterborough on 4 August 2008. His electric pace, silky Brazilian skills and tenacity made him an instant hit amongst the fans.

On 17 August 2008 Rafael made his competitive Manchester United debut when he came on as a substitute for Fraizer Campbell in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United; with his first start coming in the home 3-1 League Cup victory over Middlesborough 5 weeks later.

On 8 November 2008 Rafael scored his first goal for the club in Manchester United's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. With The Reds trailling they won corner, which was cleared to the edge of the box by an Arsenal defender. Rafael brought the ball down on his chest and smashed home a beautifully struck volley, to put United back in the game, which they eventually lost.

Introduction
Michael Carrick seems to have been around for years. After making his debut for West Ham United as a waif like 18 year old, he has known grown into one of the best passing midfileders in the country, with his long range searching balls surpassed by few.

Although his passing is viewed by many as being second to none his goal scoring record could be improved upon and is sometimes guilty of being caught in possession in highly charged and fast paced games, but this can probably be attibuted to his tall stature, which makes it a little bit more difficult to get the ball under control than players with lower centres of gravity like Paul Scholes and Carlos Tevez.

All in all Michael Carrick looks more and more like a Manchester United player everytime he pulls on the famous red jersey and his partnership with Paul Scholes in United's engine room is flourishing all the time.

Michael Carrick - like fellow red Rio Ferdinand - started is footballing career playing as a striker for the famous Wallsend Boys' Club before he switched to his more recognised position as Central Midfield when he was signed up by West Ham United courtesy of The Hammers North-East scouts Dave Mooney and Bill Gibbs in 1997.

After Carrick was groomed for future stardom in the Upton Park outfit's superb academy he eventually made his debut on 28 August 1999 as a substitute when he replaced Rio Ferdinand in the 3-0 Premier League victory over Bradford at Valley Parade.

After a slow start to his career at West Ham United and a couple of loan spells at Swindon Town and Birmingham City Carrick began to establish himself as a regular first team player and in the 2000-01 season his exploits were not going un-noticed by larger clubs, England manager Sven Goran Eriksson and the PFA who nominated him for their Young Player of the Year accoladed - Michael Carrick would eventually lose out to Liverpool's Steven Gerrard.

Although being courted by larger clubs the player remained at West Ham United and was handed his first England cap by Eriksson on 25 May 2001 in the 4-0 friendly victory over Mexico at Pride Park, Derby where, ironically he replaced Steven Gerrard as a half-time substitute. Amazingly Carrick would have to wait four years to make his full senior England debut, doing so in the 2-1 victory of the U.S.A. in Chicago.

The 2002-03 season was one defintaley to forget for the player as he and his West Ham United team were relegated from the Premier League after Carrick spent most of the season on the sidelines through injury.

Instead of jumping the sinking ship like other West Ham United players Carrick stayed in order to help the club regain Premier League status once more, but when the club were defeated by Crystal Palace in the 2003-04 Play-off final, the player realised that for the sake of his career he had move on, and was quickly snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £2.75m.

After an ankle injury had plagued the start to his career at White Hart Lane, he eventually made his debut on 18 October 2004 coming off the bench in a 1-0 defeat against Portsmouth at Fratton Park. Although he didn't pick up any trophies whilst in North London his time there was fruitful, with his superb return to form leading him back into the England fold and encouraging Sir Alex Ferguson to splash out in excess of £15m to acquire his services.

Manchester United Career
On 31 July 2006 Michael Carrick signed for Manchester United and was given the unenviable task of filling the number 16 shirt vacated by Roy Keane, after he had left the club to join Celtic on 15 December 2005.

Again, as with his Tottenham career his Manchester United debut was delayed due to a niggling ankle injury. He made his much awaited debut from the bench on 23 August 2006 in the 3-0 away victory over Charlton Athletic. His first goal for the club came four months later when scored United's second in the 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on 13 January 2007.

In his first season Carrick was an ever present figure in the Red Devils' team and was seen as a key component of that succesful Premier League winning team. In fact it seems that the player is a lucky charm as in his first two seasons he helped United win two League Ttiles and the Uefa Champions League, scoring crucial penalty in United's 6-5 shoot-out defeat of Chelsea.

Dimitar Berbatov Career at CSKA Sofia & Bayer Leverkusen

Dimitar Berbatov is a supremely gifted striker in the mould of Manchester United idol Eric Cantona and Dutch Maestro Denis Berkkamp. The Bulgarian hitman embarked on his journey to footballing stardom with local amateur side Pirin Blagoevgrad, before being discovered and taken to CSKA Sofia (the team his father played for) by former national team manager Dimiatr Penev; who knew talent when he saw it after guiding Bulgaria to the semi-final of the 1994 World Cup and introducing the footballing planet to the likes of Yordan Letchkov, Trifon Ivanov, Emil Kastadinov, Krassimir Balakov and Hristo Stoichkov.

Dimitar Berbatov made his senior debut as an 18 year old, scoring 6 times in 16 appearances. The following season he established himself as one of the best prospects in Bulgarian football when he bagged 16 goals in 33 games in helping CSKA lift the Bulgarian Cup.

In January 2001 - after scoring a fantastic 7 goals in 4 UEFA Cup matches - Bayer Leverkusen maanger Berti Vogts decided to take the gamble and secure the services of the player. The 19 year old Bulgarian took a while to settle in, only managing to notch 16 goals in his first 67 games for the club. However, he did score a couple of memorable goals in the Champions League against Lyon and Liverpool, as his side reached the 2001 final (beating Manchester United in the semi-finals).

The following season Dimitar Berbatov began to settle into German football and established himself as a first regular under eccentric coach Klaus Toppmöller. However it wasn't until the 2003-2004 campaign that things really began to take off for the player, when he scored 19 times in 36 games. His stock began to grow on the European scene after netting 68 goals in the previous three seasons. His goalscoring exploits promted Spurs coach Martin Jol to move fast and take Berbatov to White Hart Lane in a £11m deal.

Dimitar Berbatov joined Spurs on 1 July 2006 and made his debut in a pre-season friendly against Birmingham, nettinng two goals in the process.

His competitve debut came against Sheffield United and it took the striker just two minutes to net his first senior goal for the club. In his first season in English football he formed a telepathic like raport with Irish strike partner Robbie Keane, which helped him earn rave reviews as well as 23 goals in 49 appearances.

The following season he won his first peice of silverware siince his days in Sofia when Spurs defeated Chelsea 2-1 in the English League Cup final at Wembley. Another fine season with the London outfiut caught the eye of Manchester United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson who unseccesfuly tried to sign the player whilst he was still at Leverkusen.

Dimitar Berbatov Signs for Manchester United

After a much drawn out transfer saga and a last ditch effort by Manchester City and Cheslea to snatch the player he finally signed for Manchester United with just a few minutes of the August transfer window remaining.

Berbatov couldn't have asked for a tougher start, making his debut in the 2-1 defeat against fierce rivals Liverpool on 13 September 2008, followed by title Challengers Chelsea eight days later.

His first goals for the club came in the UEFA Champions League group game against Aalborg on 30th September 2008, where he score two well taken volleys.

Anderson was raised in Porto Alegre a city in South East of Brazil, which is also famous for being the birthplace of fellow footballers Diego Rincon, Emerson Thome, Luiz Adriano and Ronaldinho. And like Ronaldinho joined local side Gremio at a young age

He made his senior debut for the club in 2005 aged just 16 years old, and his first season gained cult status after scoring the goal which gained his club promotion to the Brazilian topflight. The most remarkable thing about the goal was that his side only had seven players on the pitch at the time.

A few months later Anderson made a dream move to Europe when Porto secured his services. The player made his debut for the Portuguese side on March 5 2007 and in his very first season helped his new club win the Championship. Unfortunately after making just a handful appearances in his second campaign at Porto, Anderson spent five months on the sidelines after suffering a leg break. However this bit of misfortune didn't stop Alex Ferguson from enquiring about the midfielder. And in May 2007 the United boss made a formal bid.

Manchester United career

The deal to bring Anderson to Old Trafford finally went through on 29 June 2007 and after the four days it took him to be granted a work permit the player competed his £18m dream move.

Anderson settled into the United way of life pretty quickly as he was already friends with fellow Portuguese speakers Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Brazil midfielder made his Manchester United debut in the club's 2-0 pre-season friendly victory over Doncaster Rovers. However, it would take him another four weeks before he was given his first competitive game for The Reds. In the home game against Sundeland the player struggled and was taken off at half-time and replaced by Luis Saha, who went on to score United's solitary goal in a 1-0 victory.

After a number of impressive games for United in his first season - most notabley against Liverpool and Arsenal's Steven Gerrard and Cesc Fabregas respectively - Anderson became something of a cult hero with the Stretford Enders. And capped off a superb first season at the Theatre of Dreams by taking and netting United's 6th spot kick in their 2008 UEFA Champions League victory over Chelsea, this coming less than two weeks after he helped secure The Reds the English title.
