Zoran Tosic early career
The Serbian winger started his career with local side FK Proleter Zrenjanin, before that club merged with neighbours FK Budućnost Banatski Dvor, to form FK Banat Zrenjanin. In the season after the ,merger the players performances helped the club avoid relegation, and it was this kind of football that persuaded Serbian giants Partizan to sign the winger.
Zoran signed a four year contract with Partizan on 6 August 2007, before being called up to the Serbian national squad just 25 days later. He made his international debut on 8 September 2007 against Finland in a goalless draw, when he replaced Dusko Tosic in the 53rd minute.
Zoran Tosic Manchester United career
On 22 November 2008 the media reported that Manchester United had agreed a deal with Partizan, to sign the player in the January 2009 transfer window. The only evisaged stumbling block now, was the fact the winger didn't satisfy the work permit criterion that a player must have played in 75% of his national team's fixtures over the previous two years. However because his age meant that it was unlikely that he would have been mature enough to have played for Serbia over the previous two years, coupled with the liklihood that his talent would see to it that he would became a permanent fixture in the international set-up for years to come, he was granted a conditional work permit on 28 November 2008.
Although reports in the English press had suggested the deal had stalled due to the players personal terms, Zoran Tosic finally signed for Manchester United on 2 January 2009.
