United's title hopes took a hammer blow after drawing 0-0 with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. But despite that disappointment and the deflated feeling that has accompanied it, the team cannot down tools yet.
Chelsea have the clear advantage now - Carlo Ancelotti's side are a point clear with a game in hand - but the title race is not mathematically over.
And even if the Reds cannot claim a record fourth consecutive crown, then second place is still worth fighting for against Arsenal, given that the runners up get automatic qualification to next season's Champions League.
Chelsea are in action on Tuesday evening at Stamford Bridge against Bolton Wanderers, while Arsenal, who are two points behind the Reds, play their game in hand against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
United's next match is Saturday's lunchtime kick-off against Manchester City. There is, of course, more than just points at stake against our noisy neighbours, but both teams do need the win to attain as high a league placing as possible.
So, while we're not in the the position we'd like to be in, it's time for a deep breath and one final push. Nothing else will do.
